The RGCHPS Fall Dinner meeting will be held on September 15 at Sadie’s, 6230 Fourth St NW, Los Ranchos, NM 87107 from 6 pm to 8 pm.
The evening’s presenter is Dr. Lauren Smith and the title of the talk is” “Is Stress Killing You”
Lauren Smith received her PhD in Behavioral Medicine and Clinical Health Psychology from the University of North Texas. She spent most of her education studying chronic illness and how to mitigate the impact of illness through health interventions. She completed a postdoctoral residency in neuropsychological assessment and therapy for individuals with traumatic brain injuries. She worked as a Health Psychologist in an integrated primary care clinic prior to coming to she provided brief psychotherapy to individuals with chronic physical and mental health issues. She has worked at Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) since 2019 as a psychologist providing assessment and support to the employees across the lab.
Her passion is to help others learn how to improve both their physical and mental health and to understand the mind-body connection. She teaches others how to mitigate chronic illness by reducing stress through both physical and mental means. She is also interested in learning ways to improve brain health throughout the lifespan.
